Lily Davis is a senior and attends the Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources Program at the Branch Area Careers Center. Lily has an On-the-Job Training placement with Family Farm and Home under the direction of Will Swan. She works as a Stocker and Cashier. Lily is responsible for stocking feeds, helping customers locate products, cashing out the customer, and loading customer orders. Lily is the daughter of Justin Davis and Tiffany Davis. Lily is a member of the Branch Area Careers Center FFA Chapter. She has received her FFA Greenhand, Chapter and State degrees, and additionally participated in the Environmental Skills contest. Lily’s hobbies include being outside and spending time with her dog. After graduation, Lily plans to work full time at Family Farm and Home and eventually work her way into management. OJT has taught her strategies to help people including patience and communication. Her favorite part of OJT is helping customers find what they need. She looks forward to work every day because of her wonderful co-workers and regular customers.

The Branch Area Careers Center recently inducted Josie Mescher, a Quincy High School senior to the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). Mescher is a member of the Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources program at the BACC, as well as an FFA member. The NTHS is a non-profit, educational organization, founded in 1984 to reward excellence in technical and career education. Only those students who are recommended by the faculty and exhibit the qualities of skilled workmanship, honesty, responsibility, leadership, citizenship, and scholastic achievement are selected for membership. Students are required to have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA at their home school, as well as being in good standing with their school. Also, students are required to have a 3.5 or higher cumulative GPA at the BACC, as well as being a member of a Career and Technical Student Organization. Josie was nominated by her BACC teacher.

Josie Mescher
Gracie West is a senior at Quincy High School and enrolled in Culinary Arts Program at the Branch Area Careers Center. Her OJT placement is at Bob Evans of Coldwater as a Server and Host under the supervision of Jacob Livings. Gracie believes her OJT training has taught her how to interact with people and has improved her time management skills. Her favorite part about the position is working with the customers. Gracie looks forward to seeing her regular customers and getting to know them. She is responsible for seating, serving and taking care of customers, which includes allowing them to enjoy their time at the restaurant. She also cashes customers out and helps with online and mobile orders. Gracie is Servsafe and Allergens certified. Her future plans are to continue working full time and purchasing her own home. In her spare time, Gracie enjoys spending time with friends and being outside. Gracie is the daughter of Jennifer McCuiston and Mark West.

Joey Smith is a senior at Quincy High School and enrolled in the Business, Management & Marketing Technologies Program at the BACC. His OJT placement is Corner Store Manager at the Branch Area Careers Center under the supervision of Brittany Wisman. At the Corner Store, Joey is responsible for stocking, filling coolers, tracking inventory, balancing a cash drawer, customer service, interacting with vendors and teaching BMMT students how to operate the cash register and balance their drawer. Joey believes his OJT training has taught him good work ethic and how to operate his own store in the future. His favorite part about his position is cashing out his customers, the BACC students and interacting with them. Joey knows that he is obtaining the necessary skills to become successful in business and retail. His future plans are to work full time, until he can save money to own and operate his own business. Joey enjoys working at side businesses to earn extra money. He cleans and sells shoes, washes windows, shovels snow and other various jobs. Joey is a member of Business Professionals of America (BPA) at the BACC. As a junior, he placed at BPA Regionals in Interview Skills and competed at the BPA State Leadership Conference. As a senior, he competed in Small Business Management Team at BPA Regionals. Joey also operated a successful Young Mogul business making custom hats. His business received a Best Product award. At Quincy High School, Joey is a member of the Varsity Football team. His parents are Caleb Smith and Amanda Halcomb.
