Kelsey Mainstone is a senior at Quincy High School and attends the Education General Program at the Branch Area Careers Center. Kelsey is employed through the On-The-Job Training program at Branch Intermediate School District’s Early Education and Special Education program as a Teacher Cadet. Her supervisor is Arin Grissam. Her job duties include observing and supervising children during recess and free play, assist with crafts, circle time, bathroom and snack. She participates in one-on-one lessons with the children. Kelsey feels the best part of her OJT training is watching the children grow and learn. Each child is special to her. Her OJT training has helped her gain experience and leadership in her career field. She also feels she has grown professionally because she has pushed herself to accept challenges and explore outside her comfort zone. At the Branch Area Careers Center, she participates in Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) where she serves as Chapter Treasurer. Last year, Kelsey served as Chapter Historian. Kelsey also won gold in Career Investigation last year at FCCLA State Leadership Conference.
At Quincy High School, Kelsey is the Student Council President, Varsity Softball Captain, National Honor Society Treasurer and a member of ASTRA. After graduation, Kelsey plans on attending Kellogg Community College and then transferring to either Grand Valley State University or Central Michigan University. She will be pursuing a degree in Speech Language Pathology, which will allow her to work with pre-school children. In her spare time, Kelsey enjoys reading, watching television, and hanging out with friends and family. Kelsey is the daughter of Brian and Kelly Mainstone.
