Kelsey Mainstone is the Branch Area Careers Center Education General Senior of the Year. Kelsey is a Quincy High School senior who has been attending the BACC Education program for the past two years. She served as President of the AM chapter in the Career and Technical Student Organization Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). Her junior year, she was awarded gold at FCCLA State Leadership conference and she qualified for the FCCLA State competition again this year. Unfortunately, the event was cancelled. Kelsey is also a member of the BACC’s National Technical Honor Society. She was also named Education General’s Student of the 2nd Marking Period and the Exchange Club Student of the Quarter from the BACC. Kelsey worked as an OJT student in the BISD early childhood special education classroom this year and received high reviews from her employer for her skills and work ethic.
Kelsey is a member of the 13th year program at Quincy High School, so she plans to attend Kellogg Community College to finish her Associate’s degree and then transfer to Central Michigan University to pursue a degree in speech pathology or as a special education teacher.
Kayla Monville, Education General Instructor selected Kelsey because for her top academic performance and going above and beyond at her OJT placement, on classroom projects, and in FCCLA. She completes tasks early and puts forth hard work in every opportunity she is given. Her attendance is great and she is a reliable student and employee. Kelsey is a leader in and out of the classroom.
