Katya Gutierrez

Katya Gutierrez is a senior at Burr Oak High School and attends the Education General Program at the Branch Area Careers Center.  Katya is employed through the On-The-Job Training program at Robin’s Nest Daycare as a daycare assistant. Her supervisor is Robin Palmer.  Her job duties include supervising children and assisting with daily needs and hygiene. She also supervises playtime and directs developmentally appropriate play and social skill activities.  Katya enjoys every part of her OJT training, especially watching the children grow and overcome challenges. Her OJT training has helped her prepare for social interaction in the future. Katya is the daughter of Alice and Ricardo Munoz. At the Branch Area Careers Center, she participates in Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) where she serves as Secretary.  Katya is competing in the FCCLA State Toys that Teach competition in March.

At Burr Oak High School, Katya plays volleyball, basketball, softball, participates in track, bowling and cheer.  She is also a parking lot volunteer, volunteered at the “I Belong” event, and is part of other community service groups. After graduation, Katya plans on attending Kellogg Community College continuing on to a job she loves. In her spare time, Katya enjoys exercising, watching movies and playing outside.
