Dylan McFarland is a Quincy High School Senior and a student in the Computer Networking Technologies program at the Branch Area Careers Center. For his OJT position, Dylan is an IT Helpdesk Assistant for the Coldwater Board of Public Utilities. He is supervised by Sheila Puffenberger, Josh Smith and Craig Figueroa. Dylan’s duties include monitoring Helpdesk tickets in a timely manner, taking care of IT problems that may occur and assisting with monitoring inventory.
Dylan believes his OJT training has helped him get real work and problem solving experience, which has given him more confidence in his trade. Dylan’s favorite part about his job is helping people with their technology issues and talking to new people. After high school graduation, his plans are to continue working in the IT field. He hopes to eventually own an IT company and continue his work in customer service. Dylan is a member of BACC’s Business Professionals of America (BPA) student organization. Last year at BPA Locals, he placed in PC Servicing. When he competed at BPA Regionals, he placed second in PC Servicing and Troubleshooting. In his spare time, Dylan enjoys playing video games and programming. Dylan’s parents are Judy Nelson and Carl McFarland.
