Samantha Young

Samantha Young is a senior attending Coldwater High School and is enrolled in the Education General program at the Branch Area Careers Center.  Samantha is employed through the On-The-Job Training program at Branch Intermediate School District’s Special Education program as a Teacher Cadet. Her supervisor is Mindy Travelbee.  Her job duties include supervising children with special needs in a community preschool setting. She supervises playtime and directs developmentally appropriate play and social skill activities.

Samantha feels her OJT placement has helped her communication, team spirit and trustworthiness.  Samantha feels the best part of her OJT training is watching the children grow and prosper. She is rewarded by watching them work hard and bond with classmates. She is the parliamentarian of the Family Career and Community Leaders of America club at the BACC. Last year, Samantha received the Education Project Exhibit gold level at the FCCLA State Leadership Conference.

At Coldwater High School, Samantha competes in Track and Sideline and Competitive cheer. Her plan after graduation is to pursue a degree in human services at Kellogg Community College. She then plans to attend Spring Arbor University with the ultimate career goal as a Child Welfare Social Worker. In her spare time, Samantha enjoys eating and spending time playing with her dog. Samantha is the daughter of Linda and Kelly Young.
