Jewel McMaster

Jewel McMaster is a senior at Athens High School and attends the Environmental Agriculture and Sciences Program at the Branch Area Careers Center.  Jewel has an On-the-Job Training placement position with Athens Veterinary Services under the direction of Michelle Barnes.  She works as a Vet Tech Assistant cleaning, restraining animals, stocking shelves, rooming patients, and assisting the veterinarians and technicians.  Jewel is the daughter of Tonie and Jason McMaster.

Jewel is a member of the Branch Area Careers Center FFA Chapter. She has received her FFA Greenhand degree and outstanding junior degrees, and will serve as the Chapter Parliamentarian this year. She will be attending the FFA National Leadership Conference and competed at the State Leadership Conference in Veterinary Science in April. Jewel is a member of the BACC’s National Technical Honor Society.  At Athens High School, she is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Club and the Athens Equestrian team.  Jewel’s hobbies include showing her horse, riding her horse and playing with her donkey.  After graduation, Jewel plans to continue her training in Veterinary Science at Michigan State University with the goal of earning a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine.  OJT has taught her appropriate animal care and treatment. Her favorite part of OJT is assisting with unusual and interesting animal cases.
