An experiential learning activity
based on hands-on exploration. Students are exposed to a variety of miniquests such as close-up ecological examination, orienteering,   folklore and photography in a wilderness backpacking setting. Students in 8th through 12th grade apply to participate.

AEWE received a grant award  by the Branch County Community Foundation Youth Project Fund in May 2012 in the amount of $2,000; April 2010 in the amount of $2,500 to support the purchase of equipment. A Wal-mart grant of $500 was received in June 2010 to assist support of AEWE. 

AEWE was awarded grant support through the Branch County W.K. Kellogg Youth Project Fund of the Branch County Community Foundation in 2005-06 and the Sunrise Rotary in 2006-07.  Support was provided by the Green Thumb Garden Club of Union City in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010; the Bronson Rotary in 2008; Dean Insurance in 2009; and by anonymous donors. The AEWE Program traveled to Anchorage-Seward, Alaska from June 23-30, 2007, taking 42 students and 18 leaders on an adventure of a lifetime! AEWE is in it's 23rd year.

Requirements: Grades 8 through 12. Must apply to participate.
