Second Annual "Making a Difference" Award Nomination

The special education Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) has been making plans for the second annual "Making a Difference" awards.  PAC would like to recognize and honor outstanding persons in our county who are contributing to the education and understanding of students with disabilities for the 2009-10 school year. 

Awards with be presented at an awards reception with program on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 from 6 - 8 p.m. at the Branch Area Careers Center, 366 Morse Street in Coldwater.  There are many hard-working people in Branch county.  It is inspiring to listen to the accolades of people who have demonstrated outstanding abilities and accomplishments.

Please consider making a nomination.  Nomination form may be accessed below. 

Award categories are:

Administrator - a person who has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the education of students with disabilities.

General Education Teacher - a person who has gone above and beyond in providing educational opportunities to children with disabilities in his/her classroom.

Special Education Teacher - a person who has gone above and beyond in providing educational opportunities to children with disabilities in his/her classroom, or inclusion settings in general education classrooms.

Itinerant Staff Person (teacher consultant, social worker, speech, physical or occupational therapist, school psychologist) - a person who has gone above and beyond in a supportive role for students with disabilities.

Support Staff Person (paraprofessional, bus driver, custodian, etc.) - a person who has gone above and beyond in a supportive role for students with disabilities in the school district.

Special Education Student - a student who has distinguished him/herself in the areas of school work, projects, behavior, growth, citizenship, and/or overall achievement in the school or community setting and is currently receiving special education services.

Volunteer - a person who has given of his/her time voluntarily to better the lives of students with disabilities in the school setting.

Community Support Person (student employer/co-worker, agency representative, community member) - a person who has given of his/her time to better the lives of students with disabilities in the general community.
