Megan Root

Megan Root is a senior at Coldwater High School and attends the Early Education Program at the Branch Area Careers Center.  Megan is employed through the On-The-Job Training program at Branch Intermediate School District’s Early Education and Special Education program as a Teacher Cadet. Her supervisors are Charlene Fincham and Mindy Travelbee.  Her job duties include supervising children with special needs in a community preschool setting. She supervises play time and directs developmentally appropriate play and social skill activities.

Megan feels the best part of her OJT training is watching the children grow and overcome challenges. Her OJT training has helped her become more confident in her career choice of becoming a teacher. Megan is the daughter of Erika and Justin Root. At the Branch Area Careers Center, she participates in Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) where she serves as Vice President.  Megan also won gold in the FCCLA State Community Service Challenge project.

At Coldwater High School, Megan is has participated in track and field.  After graduation, Megan plans on attending Kellogg Community College and then transferring to Western Michigan University and pursuing a degree in Elementary Education. In her spare time, Megan enjoys shopping and being with her friends.
