Kelsie Smith is a senior at Coldwater High School and attends the Branch Area Careers Center’s Culinary Arts program. Her On-The-Job-Training placement is at the Branch Area Careers Center as the Branch House Manager under the supervision of Chef Kristen Dogan and John Motz. Kelsie’s duties include training first-year students for banquet set up, serving, cleaning, and sanitation. She says her OJT job has really helped her learn how to manage employees in a restaurant. Her favorite part of the job is being able to get management exposure while still working on culinary certifications that she can use in her career.
At the Branch Area Careers Center, Kelsie is a member of Skills USA and served as President this year. She also participated in ProStart competition in the Menu Design contest. Kelsey is ServSafe certified and is working on her Prostart certification. Kelsie plans to attend Kellogg Community College to pursue an Associate’s degree in Business. Her career goal is to manage a restaurant or hotel. At Coldwater High School, Kelsie is a member of Interact and is a cheerleader. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and watching Netflix. Kelsie is the daughter of Kami and Matt Smith
