Carsen Berry is a Home Schooled senior and a student in the Computer Networking Technologies program at the Branch Area Careers Center. Carsen is an Information Technology Help Desk Technician at Southern Michigan Bank & Trust in Coldwater under the supervision of Greg Sopcak. Carsen’s duties include trouble shooting and service of computers, documenting issues and solutions, maintaining patch cables, and answering phone calls and help desk.
His favorite part of the job is traveling and working in the many branches of the bank. Carsen believes his OJT training has helped him determine what the real workplace is like outside of the classroom. He enjoys making money and learning what is expected in his career field through hands-on experience. His future plans are to attend flight school and pursue a career in Information Technology while logging flight hours.
Carsen is a member of the BACC’s Business Professionals of America club where he is serving as Chapter Vice-President. Last year Carsen competed at the local, regional, state and national levels for BPA. He placed 5th in Computer Network Technology at the BPA National Leadership Conference. He is also a member of the BACC National Technical Honor Society. Carsen’s parents are Seth and Amber Berry. In his spare time, Carsen enjoys playing video games.
