Students will learn the follwing welding and cutting processes: Air Arc Gouging, Oxyacetylene Welding and Cutting, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, Gas-Metal Arc Welding, Gas-Tungsten Arc Welding  C.N.C. Plasma cutting and manual Plasma cutting.

Welders join metal together in a variety of industries BY utilizing manual welding or automated welding processes. Welds often must be inspected and certified depending on the use of the welded product.

 

Those in the Welding field may perform the following tasks:

  • Read architectural and mechanical diagrams, drawings, or specifications to determine job requirements
  • Plan the placement of welds on fabrications
  • Test for, locate, and repair weld imperfections
  • Install welding equipment and set up welding work cells
  • Set up and program welding robotic systems
  • Create and maintain automated production welding processes
  • Weld in repair facilities
  • Weld on Pipelines
  • Weld on Offshore oil rigs
  • Underwater welding
  • Production welding
  • Inspect weld using ultrasonic or X-ray
