Necessary Skills in the Electrical Technology Program
Algebra I is required to solve math problems encountered on the job and to get an apprenticeship.
The student should be able to listen to, understand, and follow directions.
Problem Solving Skills: The student should have the ability to understand abstract ideas such as electricity and be able to think logically through a problem.
Interpersonal Skills: The ability to get along with others is paramount.
Responsibility: The student should have excellent attendance. The ability to show up everyday and on time is a requirement for success. The student must be willing to follow safety procedures; working with electricity can be dangerous if safety procedures are not followed.
Academic: The student should be able to read at least at the 10th grade level as the National Electrical Code is at level 14. The student should be able to write legibly and spell correctly to complete materials lists and job requests.
