The National Technical Committee is committed to providing a contest that will test the overall knowledge of secondary and post-secondary contestants who have already won honors at their individual state contest. Typically this contest will utilize both written examination and practical exercises to evaluate the contestants’ abilities and knowledge of the field. The contestants are scored on their knowledge and application of U.S. Constitutional Law, written and verbal communications skills, and their ability to handle entry-level job skills as outlined in the SkillsUSA Championships Technical Standards book. Judges for this contest are comprised of active full-time police officers from large metropolitan departments, mid-size city police departments, county Sheriff’s departments, State Patrol, and federal agencies. The selection of judges provides a wide variety of perspectives and experiences in evaluating the contestant.
